Editing content in the Site Information Display box

Note: To complete these procedures, you must be assigned a role having the necessary permissions. To determine your role, follow the directions in Participant roles. For a basic understanding of roles and permissions, see Permissions and roles: Overview.

The Site Information Display box is located on a site's home page in the column next to the menubar. You can display either a web page or text in the box; you can also change the size of the box.

Adding a web page

To make a web page appear in the Site Information Display box:

  1. In the site you want to edit, if the site's home page is not already open, click Home in the menubar.

  2. In the Site Information Display box, click Options.

    Note: Because the title of the Site Information Display box is customizable, the box may be titled something other than "Site Information Display" on your site; however, it will always be located on your site's home page in the column next to the menubar.

  3. In the "Title" field, enter a title for your Site Information Display box, or keep the default or current title.

  4. Use the "Frame Height" drop-down list to set the height for your Site Information Display box. You cannot change the width of the box.

    Note: Most web pages display best in a tall box (600 or more pixels).

  5. Under "Site Info URL", type the URL (you may omit the http:// prefix).

  6. Click Update Options.

    Note: You may need to refresh your browser to view your new Site Information Display.

Adding a text description

To add a text description:

  1. In the site you want to edit, if the site's home page is not already open, click Home in the menubar.

  2. In the Site Information Display box, click Options.

    Note: Because the title of the Site Information Display box is customizable, the box may be titled something other than "Site Information Display" on your site; however, it will always be located on your site's home page in the column next to the menubar.

  3. In the "Title" field, enter a title for your Site Information Display box, or keep the default or current title.

  4. Use the "Frame height" drop-down list to set the height for your Worksite Information box. You cannot change the width of the box.

  5. Under "Description", enter the text you wish to display.

  6. Click Update Options.

    Note: You may need to refresh your browser to view your new Site Information Display.

Adding your own HTML file

To display an HTML file, first upload it to Resources (see Resources), and then:

  1. Go to Resources in the site to which you uploaded the file.

  2. Copy the URL of the HTML file by right-clicking the file's name, and then selecting your browser's Copy Shortcut, Copy Link Location, or Copy Link to Clipboard feature. (Alternatively, you can click the file's name to open it in a new browser window, and then copy the URL from your browser's address box.)

  3. If you are not already in the site in which you want to display the HTML file, select it.

  4. If the site's home page is not already open, click Home in the menubar.

  5. In the Site Information Display box, click Options.

    Note: Because the title of the Site Information Display box is customizable, the box may be titled something other than "Site Information Display" on your site; however, it will always be located on your site's home page in the column next to the menubar.

  6. Paste the URL into the "Site Info URL" field.

  7. Click Update Options.

    Note: You may need to refresh your browser to view your new Site Information Display.
